Ready. Set. Write! | CourtLeighLoveThis is the last Ready. Set. Write! update of the summer. I can’t believe it! And I’m also sad. But happy at the same time. I don’t know. EMOTIONSSS.

Before I get into any last goals, I want to send out the hugest thank-you to our hosts, Alison, KatyErin, Jaime, and Elodie. I got so much work done this summer, and it’s their amazing idea and dedication that have helped me accomplish what I did. All the hugs. All the love. Thank you so, so much, ladies.

All right. Now onto final goals and assessments.

How I Did on Last Week’s Goals

I didn’t write a post last week, but my goals were to betaread for a CP and also just get in some heavy pleasure reading. Check and check. I loved my CP’s work and we had a good chat about what was going on. Then I devoured I’ll Give You the Sun in three days, and now I’m partway through Blood and Salt, which has definitely sucked me in.

How I Did on My Overall Summer Goals

My biggest goal was to finish revisions on DOWN TO THE WATER. Mission accomplished! Not only that, I made it through two rounds of revisions and cut it from almost 103K words to 94K. Yippee!!

My secondary goal was to start working on a fantasy idea I have bebopping around in my head, but Pitch Wars derailed that idea. We’ll see what happens with Pitch Wars, but no matter what, I’ll still be focusing on DTTW.

My third goal was to write two songs. That did not happen. Not at all. But I’m okay with it. It’s felt really good to put all of myself into my writing. I haven’t done that in a while, and I think it’s what my heart needed.

Final Thoughts

I’m seriously so grateful for RSW. Last summer and this summer it has pushed me to make great strides in my work. I almost wish it could happen all year round, but at the same time, I know if it did, it wouldn’t work as well as it does. It makes my summer feel magical and full of possibility. I have two more days until they announce who made it into Pitch Wars. I’m excited, nervous, scared shitless (if I make it and if I don’t make it), so I’m going to bury my nose in a book and bask in all that I’ve done these past three months. Thank you, hosts, friends, and fellow RSW participants, for stopping by each week and cheering me on. This has seriously been so awesome, and I love you all!

Finishing with a picture of me after having climbed up an almost 90-degree canyon wall in 102-degree, no-sunshine weather. Shoulders back. Head high. Grimace-smiling. Same feelings of accomplishment.
